quilted fabric ornaments

Well it certainly has been a while since I’ve been here to blog or talk about anything! As many of you who already know me know, I’ve always got my hands working on some sort of craft related project. Over the past year, I’ve taken on making quilted fabric ornaments and it has sort of taken over my focus and workspace. I first learned how to make these fun ornaments after seeing a post by Rachel of Curio Cloth one day, and it has just taken off from there. I have a lot of fabric leftover from previous sewing projects, and this is a great way to make use of the small scraps.

There are so many fun ways to personalize and make these ornaments! Each one is unique.

The craft starts with a 3″ foam ball and is transformed by applying folded pieces of fabric to it with a ton of shiny pins. I’m not even kidding when I say a ton because each ball takes about 175-200 pins to create! You wouldn’t really know that there were pins in these, would you?! I made several to sell during the 2024 holiday season at some of my favorite stores in Arlington, Lexington, and Somerville; it was great to see other people excited about them at a craft show, too!

I am working on my very own instructional handbook and will offer it in both a digital and print format, so stay tuned for that! I am also teaching a couple of workshops this summer and fall (one already sold out – yikes!), so I’ll post about the dates as soon as they are published.

Aside from this new hobby of mine, I’ve taken on another part-time job since the last time I wrote a blog post. I’m a bookseller at a shop in Lexington and I’ll have to write about my 2024 year of reading in a separate post. My goal for 2025 was to read 25 books and I’m happy to say that I’ve already beat my goal with 27 books read so far this year!

Lots to write about, thanks for coming back to see what I’m up to these days.
